On October 2nd – 3rd, Plainview resident and long-time supporter, Jay Asparro, hit the ground running for the 6th year in a row – literally. Jay ran a total of 100 miles, from Montauk Lighthouse to the LIAD Center’s Westbury facility.
Captivated by the fundraiser’s mission, News12 featured Jay, his father and LIAD Center board member, Carmine Asparro, and Executive Director, Tori Cohen, LCSW.
“I run for my grandmother, Ann, and caregivers living with this disease,” said Asparro. “I know caregivers have to keep going, and so I have to keep going.”

At the Long Island Alzheimer's and Dementia Center, our mission is to improve the quality of life for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related forms of dementia, and their caregivers. We actively work to achieve this mission through research-based programming for all stages of Alzheimer’s, Caregiver Support Groups, in-home respite solutions, transportation options, and additional services.
