In-Home Respite Program
In-Home Support: The Helen and Sydney Jacoff
Respite Program
Long Island Alzheimer's and Dementia Center's in-home respite program provides two hours of in-home support every other week for Alzheimer’s and dementia families in Nassau County. Our highly trained respite workers provide supervision and stimulating cognitive activities for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia but cannot provide hands-on care. his is a great way to introduce help in the home, and fill in gaps in care.This program is partially funded by the Nassau County office for the Aging.
A much needed benefit is while your loved one is being stimulated, you and your family can take a much-needed break from your caregiving role. Whether you decide to simply rest, socialize with friends, run errands, attend medical appointments or anything else, the Long Island Alzheimer's and Dementia Center is here to support you and provide guidance along your caregiving journey.
To qualify for this program the diagnosed adult must be;
- 60 years or older, living with family in Nassau County
- The individual cannot be receiving full-time home health or companion care.
