The Bell Rang for Long Island Families
On July 30, 2026, representatives from the Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center stepped onto the Nasdaq MarketSite stage in Times Square to ring the Closing Bell.
While the moment took place in New York City, its meaning reached directly back to the families we serve throughout Long Island.
The bell rang for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
It rang for caregivers navigating an emotional and often overwhelming journey.
It rang for every family searching for answers, relief, connection, and hope.
Most importantly, it brought national attention to a mission that has always been deeply rooted in our local community.

The Market Changes Every Day. Our Commitment Does Not.
Since 1988, the Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center has helped individuals and caregivers navigate the challenges associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
Our Nasdaq Closing Bell ceremony was an incredible milestone, but our most important work continues here at home.
It happens when a program participant finds joy through music, art, conversation, or companionship.
It happens when a caregiver finally has an opportunity to rest.
It happens when a frightened family receives guidance and realizes they are not alone.
A gift of stock can help create more of those moments.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does LIAD accept stock donations?
Yes. The Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center gratefully accepts stock donations through its Wells Fargo account.
Why donate stock instead of selling it and donating cash?
Depending on your circumstances, transferring appreciated stock directly to a nonprofit may offer advantages that selling the stock first may not. Selling appreciated stock can create a taxable capital gain. A direct charitable transfer may allow an eligible donor to avoid recognizing that gain and potentially claim a charitable deduction.
Please consult your financial or tax advisor before making your gift.
Can my broker handle the transfer for me?
Yes. Provide your broker or financial advisor with LIAD’s Wells Fargo transfer information and ask them to initiate the transaction.
Why should I notify LIAD after making the transfer?
Stock transfers may arrive without the donor’s complete name or contact information. Notifying LIAD helps us identify your gift and provide the appropriate acknowledgment.
Can I make a stock gift in honor or memory of someone?
Yes. Please include the honoree or memorial information on the Stock Gift Notification Form so we can appropriately recognize your thoughtful gift.
Who can I contact with questions?
Please call the Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center at 516-767-6856 for assistance.
